Veterans Bridge Route 28 Ramp improvements continue this weekend in Pittsburgh

PennDOT District 11 is announcing work to improve the ramps connecting the I-579 Veterans Bridge to Route 28 in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur this weekend, weather permitting.

Crews will be installing signs and pavement markings. The ramp connecting southbound (inbound) Route 28 to the Veterans Bridge and the ramp from the Veterans Bridge to northbound (outbound) Route 28 will be closed from Friday at 8 PM to Sunday morning. Alternate routes should be considered. The following detours will be posted to guide motorists:

Veterans Bridge to Route 28

  • Continue northbound on I-279 (Parkway North) to Hazlett Street (Exit 3)
  • Exit and make right onto East Street
  • Follow East Street south
  • Make left onto East Ohio Street
  • Take ramp to northbound Route 28
  • End Detour

Route 28 to Veterans Bridge

  • Exit onto East Ohio Street
  • Make right onto Madison Avenue
  • Continue north to East Street
  • Crossover I-279 (Parkway North)
  • At Venture Street, make right to the on-ramp to southbound I-279
  • Continue south to the Veterans Bridge/I-579
  • End detour

Motorists should allow extra time and expect changing traffic patterns.
